Anti-Racism Introduction

Since 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People—better known as the NAACP—has fought for justice for African Americans in the United States. These letters from the Digital Inquiry Group’s lesson reveal how this organization grew to its prominence today and how it wrestled with decisions on how to best combat racism in this country. 

Your Task: Use the rhetoric vocabulary adapted from Patricia Roberts-Miller’s book to analyze the documents below and argue which 2-3 strategies (e.g., societal barriers, labeling) were used to argue for the best ways to challenge racism in the United States.
