Age
Annotation
There are several direct references to age in the Constitution as it was drafted in 1789. These references all concern the age at which citizens can serve in federal offices. An Article One specifically states the minimum ages for members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Article two states the minimum age for president. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution set the minimum voting age at 21. The 26th Amendment lowered the minimum voting age to 18.
